ATAP was founded in 1976 as a special cooperative company of the consortium for the operation of local public transport in the city of Pordenone and in its catchment areas.
In 1993 Atap bought the lines that were operating in the Province of Pordenone by the company Autovie Pupin S.r.l. di Spilimbergo and in 1998 acquired some shares from Autolinee Giordani srl, a concessionary for over eighty years of extra-urban transport in the area of Sacile and Val Cellina.
On 16 February 2000 it became a joint-stock company and from 1 January 2001, following the positive outcome of the European open tender called by the FVG Region for the assignment of TPL services, it became the main operator of urban and extra-urban public transport services of the Pordenonese Management Unit, grouping together not only the services of the Province of Pordenone, but also the public transport services of people then managed by the SAF and ATVO companies.
The service is governed by a ten-year service contract, extended until 31.12.2014 and currently in extension until 31.12.2019, pending the assignment of the TPL road and maritime service for the next 10 years with renewal option for a further 5, to which ATAP participates through the TPL FVG scarl consortium, which brings together the four public transport companies in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
ATAP was one of the first companies to obtain certification of its own quality organizational system in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9002: 1994 standard since 1999.
Today its business management system is certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001: 2015, UNI EN ISO 14001: 2015, BS OHSAS 18001: 2007, UNI EN 13816: 2002 and UNI ISO 39001: 2016, therefore the company operates in compliance with the norms related to quality, prevention, health and safety and environmental protection with particular attention to the expectations and needs of the customer and with particular attention to the aspect of road safety.
ATAP also has an organization, management and control model pursuant to the Legislative Decree 231/2001.
